So, what kinds of books do most teens like to read? According to many studies that have been done on teens, the majority of teens read series. They like to know the book will continue and they will have something to read for awhile. National Public Radios list of "Top 100 Teen Books" showed that 60 out of 100 of those books were part of a series/ trilogy. Teens also like to read books with a teen protagonist. They like hearing the book from a teens point-of-view because they can relate. Books that approach topics more challenging than any teen could imagine living in are popular. Teens like to be able to imagine different circumstances. Teenagers often feel overwhelmed by there own situations and learning about someone with an even tougher situation- even if it's not real- can be therapeutic and fun to read.
Overall, teens like to read mostly fiction/realistic-fiction. It gives them a way to escape and live in a different world for awhile. All the books I've reviewed are an example of that.
